Pedigree Shetland Sheep for Sale Carmarthenshire | Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales

The Tywi flock of pedigree Shetland sheep is based at our smallholding near the beautiful Tywi valley in Carmarthenshire, between Llandeilo and Carmarthen.  

We bought the smallholding in 2021 then rested the land for almost a year.  Our original sheep arrived in 2022 and we have been a closed flock since then.  We breed for hardiness and a range of beautiful coloured fleeces.  I enjoy spinning, knitting and weaving so having good fleeces is important to me.

Our sheep live out all year round, and are able to lamb outside as well due to their hardy nature.  They very rarely receive supplemental feeding - unless you count them eating the hedges! We feed them when we need to encourage them in for shearing or foot-trimming, so they do know the sound of feed landing in a trough or rattling in a bucket.

We don’t use routine antibiotics or wormers.  We wormed and then tested all the sheep when they arrived in 2022 before letting them out into the fields, and we send poo samples off for testing on a regular basis.  We vaccinate using Heptavac P, and we use organic fly sprays where needed.  

We now have a number of lambs which will be for sale this summer (ewe lambs and ram lambs) as well as a couple of last year’s rams and their wether companions.  None of these are registered yet, but all are eligible for registration, and this can be arranged at cost.
