Ram Lambs
Castell Loch Ness. A Black Fleckett Ram lamb, out of Castell Galla and sired by Castell Inverness. Ness is a striking ram lamb, he stands square, with a good front, horn set and expression. He has a good fleece, proper black and with a lovely soft handle. The sire Inverness is an approved ram, he has good nature and has been shown annually since he was a lamb, gaining Champion and Reserve Champion placings - fairly impressive for a fleckett! He is micron tested with a count of 21 and a C.V value of 98%. Loch Ness has been shown once this year. He came out under an eminent Rare Breed judge who placed him second in the class - a mixed breed class with a large entry. Ness was placed above Hill Radnors, Border Leicesters and a large entry of Shetland Ram Lambs from the country's other breeders, (he lost out to our fabulous Leicester Longwool ram lamb who's been unbeaten all season, I can forgive him for that). £200.
Castell Laird. A Grey Katmoget Smirslet, Bersugget Sokket. Laird is by the approved ram Hardicott Fernando and out of Castell Ivy. Ivy was in the show team last year and comes from a good dam line that goes back to Vanti Taffeta, a super foundation ewe for Castell. Ivy is a grandaughter of the wonderful Flitwick Samuel and has his excellent shape, nature and like so many Sam grandchildren, a super fleece. Laird is a well grown ram lamb, he's stood out as tup potential from early on. Unshown, he stands well and catches the eye. Good fleece, good length, good horns, he'll throw "spotmogets". £100.
EWES; I have several yearling ewes available and also some older girls.
2023 Grey Fleckett: Castell Jelly Bean. Lambed Fleckett twins this year to Hardicott Batman. Raised them well. Good ewe. £110.
2024 Grey Katmoget: Castell Keava, UK0753609 01364. Available as I'll be using a relation over the Katmogets this year. Super fleece. £100.
2024 Grey Katmoget/Gulkat: Castell Glas Kelton, UK0753609 01362. Gulkat ewe, nice dark grey colour. Available as I'm keeping her sister and reluctantly trimming my numbers. £100.
2024 Black Kraiget Sokket: Castell Kintra, UK0753609 01359. Lovely spotted ewe out of Castell Gladioli and by Castell Inverurie. £150.
2025 Dark Grey Katmoget: Castell Glas Lyness. UK0753609 01543. Super dark grey ewe lamb out if Gemma, a foundation ewe for the "Castell Glas" prefix. £75.
2025 Black/Grey Blettet Sokket: Castell Laga AG UK0753609 01549. Rare chance to purchase a Flitwick Samuel grandaughter from a strong dam line. Laga has a superb fleece and is a very good type. £75.
I have a handful of older ewes who are also available. These are sold sound in tooth and udder and have thrown good pedigree and crossbred lambs in the past.
2020: Castell Galdioli, Black Blessett Sokket, good strong ewe, lambed twins to a Dutch spotted in 2024. £50
2020: Castell Gailes, Grey Mirkface. £50.
2021: White: Castell Harriett. Good ewe, super fleece. Been used to breed Merino cross lambs for last few years. £55.
Delivery (at cost) possible. All work for a dog, they may also follow a bucket.
All on a Hep P programme, from a Farm Assured holding.
They're covered with Click Extra until mid October. They will be wormed up to date before leaving.
